Open Call: The Constellation Symposium 2025 – Music, Land & Creative Exploration

Open_Call_Constellation_Symposium_16-3-2025

Springhead Constellation invites artists, musicians, and interdisciplinary creators to submit proposals for the 2025 Constellation Symposium, an interdisciplinary gathering exploring the deep relationship between land, culture, and creativity. Taking place 23 – 27 October 2025, the symposium will bring together talks and projects that examine how artistic expression can shape, challenge, and reflect our relationship with the environment.
We are looking for contemporary artists, composers, sound designers, media practitioners, and interdisciplinary thinkers to submit new or existing works that respond to the theme “Music and the Land,” drawing on the rhythms, cycles, and interconnectedness of nature, technology, and cultural heritage. We welcome proposals from both established artists and emerging voices, including students, whose work aligns with the themes of the symposium.

We welcome diverse and experimental approaches, including but not limited to:

  • Music and sound-based projects such as live performances, experimental compositions, site-specific sound works, electro-acoustic and immersive audio experiences.
  • Land-based and site-specific works responding to agriculture, ecological systems, and sustainable land use.
  • Visual and media arts, including installations, audiovisual collaborations, generative art, interactive media, and digital or AI-driven work.
  • Projects exploring the intersection of sound and science, such as bioacoustics, regenerative systems, and the relationship between music and quantum physics.
  • Interdisciplinary and hybrid works that blend music, movement, science, philosophy, and environmental storytelling.

What we offer:

  • Artist fees to support creative contributions.
  • A production budget to help realize selected projects.
  • Travel costs and selected accommodation support for artists presenting their work, based on project needs and availability.
  • A platform to present work in an environment that brings together cultural leaders, musicians, and creative thinkers.

Submission details:

Deadline: May 26 2025
Location: Springhead, Fontmell Magna, Dorset, UK
